This is an excellent sized system for providing fresh food all year round for a couple or small family. Also a great sized system for schools and church groups. It provides enough water volume to cope with Canberra's temperature swings. With 1000L of biofiltration this system can handle 100 trout at 300g each (eating size!). For certain success and to grow out your fish to a larger size, stock with 50 fish.
With a footprint of just 2.2m x 3.2m these productive systems can fit into surprisingly small spaces.

This system is a great "unit of measurement" - instead of going for a system twice this size, why not grab two systems of this size! Keeping two systems is great because you can keep different types of fish, and you get a certain level of redundancy. It also allows you to start experimenting with your systems - for example, you can try feeding yabbies to the trout in system 1 and seeing if the flavour is better than the trout from system 2.
